After months of isolation and/or quarantine, it’s finally time for some convivial socializing, preferably with a spritzer: a refreshing blend of equal parts Austrian white wine and sparkling water. The spritzer campaign being launched by the AWMB in June is sure to issue the call to pleasure, inviting the participation of Austrian tavern-keepers and winegrowers, who can also benefit from special offers.

The classical Austrian spritzer (often also called “G’spritzter”) consists of one part sparkling water and one part wine from Austria. It perfectly represents Austrian summer lifestyle: uncomplicated, refreshing and best enjoyed together. But Austrian social life has been seriously dampened over the past few months.

Since more social interaction is possible again, this year’s G’spritzter campaign will encourage folks to get together with their loved ones, friends and colleagues at their favourite tavern or winegrower, to celebrate in style. With water and wine from Austria – and to enjoy the two together.

The campaign will get underway in mid-June via a variety of channels, and will engender a refreshing summery mood in Austria in the core period of July. Radio and social media will spread the message of the spritzer, as will print media and promotional material designed for winegrowers and restaurateurs. Last year the Austrian Wine Marketing Board’s outreach campaign generated 58 million visual contacts; this year’s measures will specifically support restaurants, wine taverns and vinotheques by guiding the Austrian population’s great desire for the restoration of social life in their direction.

Next week, Austria’s winegrowers and innkeepers will receive all the information concerning this year’s G’spritzter promotional materials and the opportunities to benefit from the campaign. In addition to products that will be available free of charge in defined quantities – such as table displays and posters – there will again be an on-demand web shop for individual G’spritzter promotional materials, for which the AWMB will provide vouchers.
