The MARKO wine estate was founded in 1955 by Johann Markowitsch senior. Hans Markowitsch junior brought new ideas and the most modern methods of working to the vineyard and cellar. Lukas Markowitsch is currently in charge, the third generation of the family to manage the firm. The pleasure of upholding proven traditions and of implementing sensible innovations remains undiminished.

In the vineyard particular attention is paid to health as well as growth and yield quality. For a long time the soil has no longer been subjected to the use of chemicals, the required nutrients are derived from green composts and a little manure.
