Johann Kattus History

1857: Johann Kattus I. founded a trading house for delicatessen in the center of Vienna. Founding of a Trading House for Caviar in Astrachan.

1890: Johann Nepomuk Kattus, son of the founder, starts the own production of Sparkling Wine. He becomes market leader and gets the appointment „k.u.k. Hoflieferanten“ = royal warrant.

1918: After World War I. the company concentrated on Sparkling Wine.

1945: It is thanks to the three sons of Johann Nepomuk, Johann, Josef and Franz, that the company survived the very difficult times of worldwide financial crisis, World War II. and the post-war years of allied occupancy.

1992: Mag. Maria and Dr. Ernst Polsterer-Kattus form the new management of the company
