Based in the town of Burg in Südburgenland, Groszer Wein specialises in the distinctive Blaufränkisch wines from the slate soils of the Eisenberg hill. The 26ha estate, which is working towards organic certification, is run by CEO Matthias Krön with winemaker Markus Bach and viticulturist Antonia Voit. Having started from scratch after purchasing selected plots of old vines on Eisenberg in 2012, Groszer Wein also represents other Austrian wineries in the Chinese market since 2019 under "Austrian Family Estates".

Matthias Krön has been pursuing the goal of bringing the grape variety Blaufränkisch and the Eisenberg onto the international fine wine stage since 2013. In order to resist any uniformity of flavours, oenologue Markus Bach uses indigenous yeasts from the individual vineyards.
