Rudi Hofmann likes to carve out his own path. The latecomer to winemaking opened his winery on the eastern bank of the Traisen River in 2000 and has since become one of the region´s leading winemakers. Transitioning to organic cultivation was a big step towards a winegrowing philosophy that is closer to nature, and a decision from the heart for the dedicated winemaker. Hofmann´s concept goes beyond organic, however, to a comprehensive sustainability that encompasses all steps of production. His flagship wines are the Grüner Veltliner Fuchsenrand - from the site of the same name with its shell limestone and loess soils - and the Kogelberg Riesling, which is influenced by its barren conglomerate and gravel soils. The O-Range series shows off old and new vinification techniques.
