In the most northern part of the Weinviertel region, the biggest winegrowing area in Austria, is situated a small winery in the little village Stützenhofen. Since 1979 Georg and Barbara Hugl, the owners, produce sparkling wine by using the traditional methode. Daniel and Christina, the oldest children are well integrated and together with their parents they keep up the great quality in the family business. For basewine production they focus on traditional grape varieties such as Gruner Veltliner, Welschriesling and Zweigelt, but also Traminer or Sauvingon blanc. But the most important part of the production takes part in the old cellars. The incomparable taste is the result of a very long ageing up to 10 years but yet one can identify the character of every single grapevariety.
