Christoph Neumeister is the third generation to run the renowned winery. The organically cultivated vineyards are steep and feature meagre limestone-sediment soils. The Illyrian-Pannonian combination climate and high precipitation levels can make cultivation challenging but allow a long growing season and late harvest. In the cellar, thoughtful and careful work is emphasized, including long maceration on the skins, spontaneous fermentation, long yeast contact periods and a late bottling. The results are structured and elegant wines with clear terroir. The premium wines come from top sites Saziani and Moarfeitl as well as Klausen and Steintal. In addition, the family runs the Saziani Stub’n restaurant and the boutique hotel Schlafgut Saziani.
