On the Spitzerberg in eastern-most Austria lies the twelve-hectare estate founded by Dorli Muhr and Dirk van der Niepoort. A western foothill of the Little Carpathians, the Spitzerberg features soils of pure limestone. On this south-facing slope, only tedious, painstaking efforts are implemented in order to preserve its old, cherished parcels especially where the classic Blaufränkisch variety thrives. The grapes are handpicked, slowly fermented with autochthone yeasts, softly macerated, partly foot trodden. The wines mature for 20 months in wooden casks and are bottled without filtration.
Since 2018, the vineyards are certified organic.
