About us

The history of the Wine Estate Pitnauer is closely linked to the colorful bird bee-eater (Merops Apiaster). When the first breeding pairs settled down in Göttlesbrunn in the late 80s, they inspired the young winemaker-couple Edith and Hans Pitnauer to create their Zweigelt Bienenfresser® (bee-eater), with which they wrote red wine history. The bee-eater has now been nesting in the vineyards of Göttlesbrunn for more than 30 years and is the colorful heraldic animal of the family winery.

Today, son Johannes and his partner Romana continue the family tradition. The 22 hectares of vineyards are maintained sustainable and the grapes are harvested by hand only, to ensure the highest quality. The history of the winery reflects the successful combination of nature, tradition and modern winemaking.
