Following the river Kamp from Langenlois upstream to the northern end of the winegrowing region Kamptal, there is a village called Schönberg am Kamp. Surrounded by the last foothills of the harsh Waldviertel from the west, the steep terraces of the Manhartsberg from the east and the single vineyard Kalvarienberg from the north, Schönberg and it’s surrounding vineyards are characterised by a very unique microclimate. In this valley basin, there is a very high contrast between day and night temperatures. Grüner Veltliner & Riesling can best express the uniqueness of the Kamptal and are therefore the leading grape varieties in the river valley. In the slightly cooler climate of the northern Kamptal they can best express their intense fruit aromatic.
