Weingut Stift Göttweig can refer to almost 1000 years of tradition, because the Benedictine abbey has existed since 1083 and with it the vineyards on the slopes of the Göttweiger Berg.
Today, there lies a responsibility for the care of the vineyards, for the vinification and marketing of the wine from the Göttweig Abbey with Fritz Miesbauer. As a member of the Österreichsiche Traditionsweingüter (ÖTW), it is a privilege to cultivate 30 hectares of top vineyards. The vinification of the wines of Göttweig Abbey takes place in the cellar of Weingut Stadt Krems.
Historical vineyard sites such as Gottschelle, Pfaffenberg and Silberbichl are the ideal soil for great wines. The focus of the grape varieties is, as intended for the Kremstal DAC origin, with Riesling and Grüner Veltliner.
