The “Junger Österreicher“, the campaign for the fresh, new wines from the vintage, was created by the AWMB in 1995, and is now regarded as the largest young wine brand in Austria. With its unmistakable sticker logo to aid sales, well over one million bottles have been sold.

As a harbinger of the new vintage, the most famous young wine brand in Austria - "Junger Österreicher" - was founded in 1995 by the Austrian Wine Marketing Board (AWMB).  With an average harvest, around 800,000 bottles are marketed with the succinct logo sticker. In addition to the "Junger Österreicher", there are also regional young wine brands in many wine regions.

Very popular for the "Junger Österreicher" and the other young wine brands are mainly grape varieties that ripen early. These include Welschriesling, Rivaner, Frühroter Veltliner, Muscat Ottonel and Blauer Portugieser, but also typical varieties such as Grüner Veltliner, Sauvignon Blanc and Blauer Zweigelt.

Temporarily limited, but as a charming harbinger of the new vintage, the "Junger Österreicher" shortens the waiting of all wine lovers for the wines of the 2023 vintage.
