Ski amadé: the pleasures of the palate in Austria’s ski paradise

For many years now, Austria's largest ski alliance, Ski amadé, has been proud to offer outstanding culinary programmes. Focus is always placed on the regional products of local farmers, with special attention paid to wine. With their new gourmet skiing routes, one can now set off to enjoy the distinctive culinary highlights of each individual region.

New: skiing to pleasure

With numerous gourmet programmes grouped under the overall heading ‘TASTE Ski amadé’, Austria's largest ski alliance – with over 760 kilometres of ski runs and 260 ski cabins – has long since made a name for itself as top-flight recreation for fans of fine dining. This winter for the first time gourmet-skiing routes have been developed in the five regions Salzburg Sportwelt, Schladming-Dachstein, Gastein, Grossarltal and Hochkönig. Based on regional culinary traditions, they are designed to highlight the specialties of each region. These suggested routes combine leisurely skiing with getting to know both the ski resorts and the local cuisine.

Culinary delights and wine at 22 excellent venues

Along with the new routes, guests can now be tempted with a selection of 22 certified ski and wine huts, offering a wide range of top-quality Austrian wines and regional delicacies. These huts can be recognised by a badge of certification at the entrance, one similar to the Austrian Wine Marketing Board logo. They offer a fine range of Austrian wines not only by the bottle, but by the glass as well – and there is a sommelier on hand who knows which wine best suits which dishes. In addition to the unique culinary programme at these pleasant resorts, the Skiing and Wine Enjoyment Week in March will provide a highlight of the season, with the highest-elevation farmers’ market in the Alps.

Skiing and Wine Enjoyment Week, March 2019

From 16–23 March 2019, more than twenty hotels will be offering packages geared to the theme "skiing and wine". All week long, wine tastings will be offered in the hotels and at the ski and wine huts. A special highlight is sure to be the "Highest Farmers’ Market in the Alps": farmers and producers from the region will be presenting their products directly in market stalls at the ski huts. Just like at a true farmers’ market in the valley, skiers can purchase cheese, ham, sausage and schnapps directly from the producer, as well as jams, honey and teas.
