Skiing and wine tasting in Austria's greatest ski paradise

This winter, Ski amadé and Austrian Wine Marketing (AWMB) are launching the third initiative under the slogan "Austria's greatest ski paradise presents the best in Austrian wine", with the aim of promoting gourmet culture in the mountains. Ambitious ski hut landlords, who are connoisseurs of quality wines and thus offer a diverse range of high-quality Austrian wines, will be recognised and highlighted to customers. The establishments undergo a certification process, which is subject to strict criteria. Expert AWMB inspectors will award them the "Genusspartner" sign in recognition of achieving the required standards.

Ski and wine-tasting partner huts

"The ski huts in Ski amadé are known to visitors for their high standards and convivial atmosphere. We want to promote enjoyment of wine in the ski huts to further emphasise the pleasurable aspects of skiing. As Austria's greatest ski paradise we have found the perfect partner, with an excellent, international reputation, in Austrian Wine Marketing. The result is a typical, Austrian symbiosis, which combines to maximise enjoyment. Skiers can revel in Austria's greatest ski paradise and round off their experience with superb wines in the convivial, atmospheric setting, with quality cuisine and a standard of service to match, at one of our certified partner establishments", states Dr. Christoph Eisinger, Ski amadé's Managing Director. At the certified ski huts, skiers can select their preferred wine from a diverse range of Austrian wines, either as an accompaniment to food, to sip as they relax on the sun terrace, or simply to enjoy a glass of good wine. This initiative offers gourmet skiers a suitable end to their day's skiing, at a reasonable price.

The certification criteria

Ski huts which display the certification sign must meet strict criteria. These criteria have been devised in conjunction with ÖWM and Ski amadé. The certified ski huts are thus guaranteed to offer three red and three white wines by the glass, plus an equally wide range of wines by the bottle. The range of wines must also reflect the breadth of Austrian wines. The gourmet experience is complemented by specially matched foods. The wines will be served in suitable glasses and at least one member of staff will have been trained in Austrian wines. The expert opinion of the Salzburg Sommeliers Association is decisive in the certification process. The sommeliers also advise the ski huts on compiling their wine lists. The "Genuss-Partner" sign serves as a guide for skiers, to they know exactly what kind of hospitality to expect.

This season 19 huts in Ski amadé have already been awarded the "Genuss-Partner" certificate. They are:

  • the Lisa Alm in Flachau
  • the Winklalm and the Burgstallhütt’n in Flachauwinkl
  • the Oberforsthofalm in Alpendorf, the Kühbergalm and the Auhofalm in Wagrain
  • the Schüttalm in Kleinarl and the Reitlehenalm in Eben
  • the Du & I Alm on Hauser Kaibling and the Schnepf’n Alm on Reiteralm in Pichl
