Vinordic Stockholm - Austrian Wine in Sweden’s Capital March 17-20 2003 - Booth Number: C11 31

Fifty Austrian wineries will be presenting around 180 different wines at one of Northern Europe’s most important wine fairs. Nine million inhabitants with a comparatively high annual per capita wine consumption of 21.7 litres make Sweden an attractive market.

Professionals from the hospitality trade, journalists, importers, and consumers will have the opportunity to speak with Austrian vintners and importers of Austrian wine at the Vinordic. The generously sized Austria booth will have a tasting bar as focal point. Austrian wine seminars and tastings will be held with the Nordic master sommelier Andreas Larson as speaker. In addition to these seminars for professionals, Karl-Axel Svensson will also hold introductory presentations for consumers.

Austrian producers are proud to look back on five excellent successive vintages. The wines harvested during this period have received international acclaim for their expression of terroir and for the fruit-driven character of indigenous varieties such as Grüner Veltliner and Zweigelt.

Director of the Austrian Wine Marketing Board, Michael Thurner, is very happy with the latest developments, “International wine connoisseurs consider Austria a valuable addition to the wine market. They enjoy the crisp, refreshing style of our dry white wines, the compact, deep fruit of our reds and the power and balance of our sweet dessert wines.”
