The increase in quality of Austrian wines also means an increasing international interest in the products of vintners from Burgenland, Lower Austria, Styria and Vienna. Wines from Austria can be found more and more often on the wine lists in the world's best restaurants and in the assortment offered by wine merchants. In order to support this growing trend of importing wine from Austria in the media, the Falstaff publishing company has now abridged its German wine guide - which has been published for five years - in an English edition. Approximately two hundred of the leading wineries accepted the invitation to participate in the tasting for this export-oriented purchasing guide - this involved dynamic, quality-minded vintners, who are either already presented abroad or actively looking for a suitable partner.

In addition to general information about the wine country of Austria, the reader can find up-to-date descriptions of the wineries and a rating of the most important wines of the last vintages, according to the international 100-point system. Descriptions of the best current young wines representing the range of wine types are also provided.

An extensive list of importers, compiled according to the information provided by the represented vintners, makes it possible for the international readers from many different countries to obtain directly in his native country the wine of the desired variety or category. On the other hand, the Falstaff Wine Guide is also meant to offer support to those importers seeking vintners from Austria who are able and willing to export wines, since the wines listed here are all rated according to the highest of Austrian quality standards and found and classified as recommendable.
