1998-06-07  –  At the finale of the Sommelier World Championships held on June, 6th, 1998 at the Vienna Hofburg, in which there were participants from 29 countries of Europe, Asia, and America, Markus de Monego from Germany reigned supreme. The vice-champion was Eric Beaumard from France. Norbert Waldnig, from the Hotel Kapeller in Innsbruck, was able to claim a magnificent third place for Austria with his convincing performance.
