Wines from Austria at ProWein 2017

The countdown to the world’s greatest trade fair for wine proceeds apace. ProWein in Düsseldorf will open its doors from 19–21 March to more than 50,000 trade visitors, each day from 9.00–18.00. More than 360 exhibitors from Austria will be on hand to participate in the wine world’s leading annual convocation and offer their products for tasting. Austria’s wine country will present the fruits of its labours once more in the comfortable and attractively appointed surroundings of Hall 17

Austrian origin marketing in Hall 17

The new trade fair concept that the Austrian Wine Marketing Board rolled out in 2015, with its emphasis on Austrian wine traditions, has proved effective and will be maintained in Hall 17. The wooden surfaces of the booths in the hall add a natural touch to the ambience, while comfortable seating areas are conducive to the productive exchange of ideas in a relaxed atmosphere. Large-scale photographs of Austrian wine country landscapes diffuse a sense of calm amid the bustle of the fair. A colour-coding system will make it easy to find all sixteen specific winegrowing regions, categorised by federal state and organised in a practical layout.

A Substantial Presence for Austria’s Wine Industry

Despite the challenging 2016 vintage, Austria will be once more represented by an imposing and wide-ranging field of 363 exhibitors (200 estates from Niederösterreich, 124 from Burgenland, 25 from the Steiermark and 7 from Vienna, as well as seven additional exhibitors). This serves to impressively underscore the importance of ProWein for Austria’s wine industry. The Austrian Wine Marketing Board – which has organised the Austrian presentation in cooperation with the Foreign Trade Department and the Chamber of Commerce – will once again open their booth at the fair among the exhibiting growers. Their extensive array of services includes exciting themed tastings given daily, comprehensive informational material and a concise register of exhibitors. Top management as well as the functionaries of the AWMB will be readily available for individual consultations.

Austrian ‘Schmankerl’...

If you crave the flavour of something authentically Austrian, the Österrreich-Restaurant in Hall 17 offers traditional delicacies and wine-tavern specialties to pamper the fairgoers. Each year the Austrian chef Franz Gruber, from the famous restaurant ‘Gruber’s’ in nearby Cologne, is able to build a culinary bridge between Austrian cuisine and wine from Austria – an authentic total gustatory experience that is uniquely Austrian.
