The World's Best Biological Wines From Austria

A series of national and international awards prompted the association of the 17 Bioveritas Wine Estates to go public and to present the "excellent biological wines" together for the first time.

That the Austrian biological vintners can not only compete with their conventional colleagues is clear, they also take the lead in biological wine growing. This was shown by the most recent "Selection IFOAM 2000," the award of the biological umbrella organisation at the 6th International Biological Wine Growing Congress last weekend in Basle. Member firms of the Bioveritas Wine Estates presented - with a Riesling Smaragd and a Weißburgunder - two of the three winners in the white wine category. Around 1700 participants from 80 countries met for a scientific discourse concerning the future of planting land biologically.

"The Bioveritas Wine Estates are on the right road, and with their international successes are an advertisement for the whole of Austria's wine growing," is also the pleased opinion of the Austrian Wine Marketing Service Association, which together with the ARGE Biological Planting of Land, also helped to launch BIO VERITAS.

We have dedicated ourselves to wine quality and biological wine growing. The one fostered our opinion following the other. Only without chemical aids and in the vineyard and the cellar comes the 'earthy aroma' - which means allowing the soil to have, unadulterated, an effect in the wine," is the credo of the Bioveritas Wine Estates.
