OIV 2004 - World Wine Congress to Meet in Vienna
The Changing Face of Wine
The World Wine Congress is designed to reflect the rapid pace of change in international viticulture and viniculture on a global level. Guests of the forum participated in lectures and discussions about grape production, oenology, economy, and wine and health. The Second General Assembly of the OIV took place after the congress.
Wine Country Austria to Enthuse Guests
During the entire congress, the AWM invited participants to tastings of Austrian wines from all wine producing areas. The evening events were also designed to promote Austrian wines. On Thursday, after the five-day conference, an excursion took place international guests to some of Austria’s great wine growing areas. Interested participants were also able to make additional wine journeys to Lower Austria, the Burgenland, or Styria after the conference.“The congress once again recognizes Austria’s place as a modern and innovative wine-producing country,” says Michael Thurner, director of the AWM. “After the Master of Wine Congress in 2002, Austria as a wine-producing country is once more in the spotlight of international expert attention. The tastings and journeys will be a further contribution to convincing international decision makers of the excellent quality of our wines and of the professionalism of our wine producers.”
