Austrian wine - your performance please!

Smaller yield volumes hardly slow the export activities of domestic vintners. Around 70 wine estates already took part in the 1st quarter of 1997 at the diverse meetings for interested parties of AWM abroad.

Brussels, Copenhagen, London, Dublin, Edinburgh and The Hague were stopping points on the Austrian wine tour in February and March, which in the course of the 2nd quarter went, or will go, to Switzerland (29.4.), Norway (29.5.) and Poland (2.6.). The aim of these appearances abroad is to promote contact to new customers for Austrian wine in an economic way, within the framework of a first class event, and to address the most important opinion makers and salespersons. This should achieve a satisfactory presence on the market in the medium-term. From the delivery of the wine, refrigerators, Riedel glasses and presentation tables, to the entire program agenda, the AWM presented, so to speak, the platform, equipment and production. "Only the parts of the protagonists, for the sales, had to be taken by the vintners and importers themselves."

This form of mini trade fair presents an ideal addition to major appearances abroad, á la Pro-Wine in Düsseldorf (2.-4.3.). With over 50 wine estates on the AWM group stand, Austria acknowledged Germany, as its most important export market, with appropriate attentiveness. The success of these export activities could not only be seen in the enthusiasm at the stand, or in the increasing interest for Austrian wine abroad, but, above all, in the thoroughly positive resonance of the vintners.
