Grape Varieties

There are 35 grape varieties authorised for the production of quality wine in Austria, and quality wine may be produced from 'gemischten Satz' (a selection of varieties harvested at the same time) and blends from the following grape varieties. The percentage of red wine has increased to a about a third in recent years, and another third of vineyard areas is planted with Grünen Veltliner.
