Wine (previously Tafelwein, or table wine)
Simple table wine in the entry-level price category is marketed and sold without protected origin or geographical region. The label of this wine will simply state 'Österreich' or Austria. In the case of the wine being a blend of different grapes from other countries, the terminology is 'blend of wines from more than one EU Member States'.
Effective from the 2009 vintage, this category of Austrian wine may also carry the name of the variety and vintage on the label. However, the same maximum permitted yield of 9,000 kg/ha as land and quality wine applies. These wines are not permitted to carry the red-white-red banderole and have no State control number.
