Organic Viticulture

The most important characteristics of organic agriculture include the prohibitive use of easily soluble mineral fertilizers and herbicides; a conscious cultivation of the vineyard, to naturally promote the health and fertility of the soil, and a respect for its natural cycle.

The outcome of regionally adapted cultivation measures, coupled with the appropriate amount of greening suitable for the needs of both soil and plant, should lead to an intact ecological system, from which the plants can obtain their nutrition.  Natural self-regulating mechanisms should be promoted and the natural cycles should remain stable, in order to create naturally resistent culture plants for grape-production. There are seven certified control stations located in Austria, and their inspections guarantee that all the directives of EU legislation and organic agriculture associations, are adhered to.
