Integrated Pest Management/Integrated Production

This refers to a procedure, to which all economically, ecologically and toxicologically  sustainable methods are applied, in order to keep the extent of damage to a minimum and beneath the economic damage threshold.

It is a combination of all pest management and plant protection measures. The result is a high quality crop with adequate yield, and minimal impact on the agricultural ecological system and its surrounding environment.

The use of chemical pesticides (gentle/beneficial pests) should be applied specifically (within the realms of the damage thresholds), and can be replaced or enhanced by organic, bioengineered or mechanical measures. The application of all chemical treatments are to be considered as an addition to the alternatives.
