David Schildknecht authored among others the majority of chapters on wines of France, as well as those concerning Austria and Germany, which each for the first time received an extensive chapter of their own. Schildknecht offers an introduction to the relevant wine laws, sine styles, history, vintage characteristics, and terroir, as well as countless not entirely uncontroversial recommendations for consumers, a ranking of the estates, and descriptions and wine ratings for close to a hundred leading producers in Germany as well as Austria.
