2. The Land
The Wachau and the Danubes lovely tributary valleys. Steiermark (Styria), home to lush, bucolic hillsides. The vast, peaceful paradise of the lake Neusiedlersee and its shores. And Vienna - the worlds only major wine-growing capital. These wine regions are some of the most beautiful in the world. And like their wines, each is very distinctive.

The exciting diversity of Austrias wines is enhanced by the different types of soils here, such as the rocky Danube terraces, the massive layers of loess in Lower Austria, the calcareous soils in Burgenland and southern Styria and the volcanic basalt derivates found in the Kamptal and in south-eastern Styria.
